Zhu Shan Station, located at an elevation of 2451 meters, is the highest station on the Alishan Forest Railway. Its appearance is shaped like the Greek letter alpha, and its roof, resembling undulating clouds, symbolizes the breaking dawn of sunrise. The platform retains its old crescent shape, weaving together to create the most beautiful station atop the clouds. The station also sets five records, including being the highest point on Taiwan's railway, a diamond-grade green building, smart ecological lighting, water storage capabilities, and a crescent-shaped platform, embodying both cultural and ecological sustainability. Surrounded by mountains, the lush forests of Alishan National Scenic Area are known as the "Emerald Landscape." Famous for the "Alishan Five Wonders" – sunrise, sea of clouds, sunset glow, forests, and the century-old mountain railway – its beauty is renowned both domestically and internationally. This area is not only a prime spot for hiking and mountaineering but also offers an immersive experience in both the majestic natural environment and the enchanting railroad culture, making it an excellent choice for exploring the beauty of Taiwan's mountainous landscapes.

|The Five Wonders of Alishan

The Alishan mountain range is one of Taiwan’s five major mountain ranges, and Alishan does not refer to a single mountain but broadly to this mountainous area; historically rich in red cypress and Hinoki cypress, it has been Taiwan’s largest logging site since 1912 until the late 1960s. After logging by the Japanese and the Nationalist government, the original Hinoki forests were almost completely harvested; today, nearly forty giant red cypress trees remain accessible via the first and second phase trails, a solemn reminder of the majestic past. Among them, the tallest "Alishan Xianglin Sacred Tree" stands 45 meters high with a girth of 12.3 meters and an estimated age of about 2300 years, making it a must-visit in Alishan. ▲ Travel reference: Must-visit attractions in Chiayi [Alishan Forest Recreation Area], covering international tourism hotspots on a one-day Alishan tour!
